RootOne Grant for 2022

Current High School Students: Don’t Miss Your $3,000 Scholarship to Maccabiah!

Maccabi USA is thrilled to announce we have been accepted as a RootOne grantee for the summer 2022 season! RootOne is a new initiative that helps connect thousands of Jewish teens to Israel by lowering the financial barrier to participation in immersive summer trips to Israel and by investing in the educational quality of those experiences. A seamless partner for Maccabi USA with shared values, mission and vision, we can’t wait to work with RootOne to not only grow the number of teens we send to Israel, but to enhance the depth of their experiences as well.

Through this new partnership, eligible athletes currently enrolled in high school grades 9-12 who complete approximately 10 hours of educational programming and participate fully in the Maccabi USA delegation to the 21st Maccabiah Games will be awarded a $3,000 RootOne Voucher towards their participation in the 21st Maccabiah, thus, lowering the financial commitment from $8,500 to $5,500.

The first step in this process is to complete the eligibility check with RootOne by clicking here. If you are a U16 or U18 athlete who is interested in a RootOne voucher but deemed ineligible by RootOne, please be in touch with Maccabi USA Program Director Steve Graber to learn if you qualify through an alternative method and to hear about other Maccabi USA financial assistance opportunities. When submitting your application, the athlete’s personal e-mail should be the primary contact, and each applicant must have a unique e-mail address.

Early in 2022, RootOne applicants will be given instructions on how to complete the pre-trip educational programming. By completing the registration process with RootOne, you are committing to registering for all educational programming by May 1 and completing it by June 1 in order to receive this funding. RootOne participants who do not fulfill the educational requirements or do not fully participate in the Maccabi USA delegation to the Maccabiah will be responsible for the final $3,000 of the registration fee.

The funding through RootOne will serve as a voucher for participation in the Maccabiah, but should you wish to be considered for scholarship funds above this, you will still need to go through the official Maccabi USA scholarship application process.

While there is no requirement to participate in the RootOne program, we hope this helps many athletes lower the financial burden of the Maccabiah and we are confident the educational programming that is offered will enhance the Maccabiah experience for all who participate. If you have any questions, please contact Maccabi USA Program Director Steve Graber.
