PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS APPOINTED TO TEAM USA FOR THE 2018 MACCABI YOUTH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA June 28, 2018 – The Maccabi USA Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that 10 athletes, two coaches, one Certified Athletic Trainer, and one accommodations manager from Pennsylvania have been appointed as members of the USA delegation for the upcoming Maccabi Youth Games, which will take place in Israel, July 22-August 2, 2018.

The athletes are Samantha Adler of Holland, PA, Youth Women’s Soccer; Reeve Bernstein of Newtown, PA, Youth Women’s Soccer; Jake Block of Washington Crossing, PA, Youth Men’s Soccer; Everett Kurtz of Holland, PA, Youth Men’s Soccer; Olivia Kurtz of Holland, PA, Youth Women’s Soccer; Blake Landow of Villanova, PA, Youth Women’s Softball; Sophie Levitt of Pittsburgh, PA, Youth Women’s Basketball; Tessa Pearlstein of Bryn Mawr, PA, Youth Women’s Volleyball; Julian Rosenfeld of Doylestown, PA, Youth Men’s Soccer; and Ethan Sirken of Solebury, PA, Youth Men’s Soccer. Matthew Bernstein of Newtown, PA will serve as Head Coach for one of our Youth Women’s Soccer Teams and Michael Monheit of Rydal, PA will serve as Assistant Coach for one of our Youth Men’s Soccer Teams. Rebecca Abkowitz of West Chester, PA will serve as a Certified Athletic Trainer and Mitchell Kurtz of Wynnewood, PA will serve as an Accommodations Manager.

There will be six days of competition, followed by three days of touring based in Jerusalem. The other countries competing include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Great Britain, Holland, Hungary, Israel, Italy, South Africa, and Spain.

The Maccabi Youth Games will provide the athletes an opportunity to compete internationally and connect with Jewish athletes from around the world and the State of Israel.

The Magic of Maccabi combines a passion of Israel and athletics. The team members are excited to be part of the delegation heading to Israel in just under a month for the inaugural Maccabi Youth Games!
