JAKE RAUCHBACH APPOINTED AS HEAD COACH OF MACCABI USA’S OPEN MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THE 15th EUROPEAN MACCABI GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, October 12, 2018 – Adam Chaskin, Overall Basketball Chair for the 2019 European Maccabi Games, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jake Rauchbach as Head Coach for Team USA’s Open Men’s Basketball Team for the 15th European Maccabi Games. The Games will take place July 28-August 7, 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Rauchbach served as Assistant Coach for the Open Men’s Basketball Team at the 20th World Maccabiah Games in Israel and served as the Assistant Coach/Player Performance Specialist for Ness Ziona of the Israeli Winner League.

“I am humbled and grateful to be named Head Coach for the USA Open Men’s Basketball Team for the 15th European Maccabi Games. The experience of winning the gold-medal during the World Maccabiah Games in Israel was unbelievable, it left an indelible mark” said Rauchbach. “We are excited to begin assembling the Open Men’s Basketball Team comprised of the best Jewish American players currently competing in college and on the highest levels of professional basketball. We look forward to building upon the success in Israel, while helping to facilitate life-changing experiences for our athletes, which will leave a lasting memory for all who participate.”

Prior to his participation with Maccabi USA, Rauchbach was a member of the Drexel Dragon’s Basketball Team and coaching staff, served as a Player Performance Specialist with Temple University Men’s Basketball, and most recently served as the Player Performance Specialist/Assistant Coach of Ness Ziona of the Israeli Winner League.

The European Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.

Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish basketball players to represent Team USA in Basketball at the 15th European Maccabi Games in the Open Division (ages 18-35). Eligible applicants should visit maccabiusa.com to apply.
