Bill was an excellent soccer athlete at Temple University, where he was a member of the 1953 NCAA Championship Soccer Team.  It was because of his love of the sport that he first got involved with Maccabi USA as an Assistant Coach for the USA Men’s Soccer team at the 7th Maccabiah Games.  After that experience Bill became hooked on the idea of using sports as a vehicle to connect Jewish athletes with their culture and heritage and enhance their connection to the State of Israel.

Bill has always inspired others with his integrity, insight and leadership, and was instrumental in helping to build the foundation for what Maccabi USA has become today.  Because of this and his continued dedication and involvement with the organization, Bill was awarded Maccabi USA’s most significant honor, the Robert E. Spivak Leadership award, in April 2005.

Bill has also been involved in other Jewish organizations, including serving as a member of the Boards of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Friends of Wingate and the Philadelphia Friends of Boys Town of Jerusalem.  Bill is an attorney and resides in Bala Cynwyd, PA with his wife Louise. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
