Mel was first introduced to the Maccabi Movement by his Uncle Charles and became personally involved with Maccabi USA in 1978.  He has served as a National Golf Chairman for the organization and along with his wife Ilene has attended four Maccabiah Games and travelled to the Pan Am Maccabi Games in Brazil.

Mel‘s 34+ year association with Maccabi USA has truly enriched his life.  Through Maccabi, he has developed deep, lasting friendships.  Mel and Ilene have been able to travel the world with their Maccabi friends, advancing their love for Israel and the Jewish People through the Maccabi Mission.

Mel is also involved in several additional charitable organizations.  Notably, he has held the position of President of the Philadelphia chapter of Boys Town Jerusalem.  He was also a longtime member of the Albert Einstein Health Network Board of Directors and currently sits on both Maccabi USA and National Liberty Museum Boards.

Mel and Ilene divide their time between Bala Cynwyd, PA and St. Thomas, USVI.
