1960, 1964 & 1968 Olympics
7th, 8th, 12th & 14th Maccabiah

David is an extensively decorated athlete and coach.  He competed at the 7th and 8th Maccabiah Games in Israel after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania where, as a senior, he was a first-team All-Ivy selection in epee.  Besides his three Olympic competitions, David was ranked top-10 in men’s epee 10 times and nationally-ranked in foil and sabre from 1960-73.  He also coached the USA Fencing team at the 12th and 14thMaccabiah Games.

David has stayed connected to Maccabi USA because his Maccabiah experiences provided a significant connection for him with the State of Israel and strengthened his Jewish faith.  He developed friendships from his experiences that he maintains today.

David has won multiple medals and awards that include being inducted into the second class of the University of Pennsylvania Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996, and in 1997 he was an inductee in the inaugural class of the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

David and his wife Phyllis reside in Cherry Hill, NJ and have four sons.
