Tennis: 11th Maccabiah
Endower | International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

Bob, a native of Philadelphia, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the men’s tennis team.  He became involved with Maccabi USA over 30 years ago because of his love for tennis.

Bob was the Head Coach of the USA Open Tennis team at the 11thMaccabiah Games in 1981 and went on to serve on multiple Maccabiah USA Organizing Committees to help build great tennis teams for subsequent Maccabiah Games.  His rapport with and support of the athletes is unsurpassed.

Bob’s name is synonymous with sports in Philadelphia as he was the Chairman of the Philadelphia Sports Congress for over 10 years and was named Chairman Emeritus in 2009.  His enthusiastic support, encouragement and philanthropic endeavors for sports and sports participation have made him an extremely prominent and active sportsman in and for the city.

Bob is the recipient of multiple honors and awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.  He and his wife Cissie reside in Bryn Mawr, PA and Chesapeake City, MD and enjoy their two sons, three daughters, their spouses and numerous grandchildren.
