MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE OPEN MEN’S BEACH VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, June 16, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Volleyball Co-Chairs, Samuel Moyerman, Ross Rosner, Matthew Susson, and Mark Susson are pleased to announce the Open Men’s Beach Volleyball Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The athletes are Etan Bennett of Jersey City, NJ, Stevens Institute of Technology (’16) and Zach Richman of Boca Raton, FL, Averett University (’14). Etan began playing volleyball as a middle blocker with “Pace Bootlegger” Volleyball Club. Later in his career, he was a member of the USA High Performance Beach Volleyball National Training Team and was a starting player on the Stevens Institute of Technology Varsity Team. Stevens Institute of Technology won the NCAA Champions in 2015. Zach began playing both beach and indoor volleyball with “Ocean Breeze Volleyball Club” in high school. Later, during his college years he played club and coached in local youth leagues. He was a member of the 19th Maccabiah Games indoor volleyball team and is looking forward to the beach competition this summer.

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.

Philadelphia, PA, April 27, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Volleyball Co-Chairs, Samuel Moyerman, Ross Rosner, Matthew Susson, and Mark Susson are pleased to announce the Open Women’s Beach Volleyball Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The athletes are Samantha Lemmon of Delray Beach, FL, Boca Raton High School; and Macie Tendrich of Boynton Beach, FL, University of South Carolina.

Samantha has competed in over 70 volleyball tournaments, winning at the juniors, women’s, and co-ed levels. Prior to moving to Florida to play beach volleyball year-round, Samantha started the first ever sand/indoor volleyball team, “Hybrid” in St. Louis, MO. She has committed to play beach volleyball at Florida International University, fall of 2017. Macie is a 3-year starter for the University of South Carolina Beach Volleyball Team. She set a school record for 27 wins, the most in a season in 2017, has the leading all-time career wins of 71 points, and is a 2-time co-MVP for the USC Beach Volleyball team. The 20th World Maccabiah Games will be the first time that Samantha and Macie will compete as Team USA athletes.

MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE JUNIORS BOYS’ BEACH VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, April 13, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Volleyball Co-Chairs, Samuel Moyerman, Ross Rosner, Matthew Susson, and Mark Susson are pleased to announce the Juniors Boys’ Beach Volleyball Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The athletes are Aaron Shapiro of Framingham, MA, Framingham High School; and Maxwell Waltzman of Natick, MA, Natick High School. Aaron and Max are both 3-year varsity starters on their school volleyball teams and have played club volleyball for two years at Beantown Volleyball Club. In 2016, Aaron received the honor of “Framingham High School Class of 2018 Male Athlete of the Year” and Max received the honor of “Metrowest Daily News All-Star.” The 20th World Maccabiah Games will be the first time that both Aaron and Max will compete as Maccabi USA athletes.
