19th World Maccabiah Games Co-Presidents Announce Dates of Competition in 2013
October 22, 2010, Philadelphia, PA - Bob Spivak of Philadelphia, PA and Roy Salomon, of Montreal, Canada, Honorary Co-Presidents of the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel are pleased to announce the competition dates of the Games. All competition will commence on Tuesday July 16, 2013 and end Tuesday July 30, 2013. The venues for the competition are located throughout the country and are assigned by sport.
The Games are about more than just competition, they also provide all participants the opportunity to become part of the largest gathering of Jews in one place and to compete and bond with other great Jewish athletes that come to Israel to participate in the third largest international sporting competition in the world. Spivak and Salomon have each served as Presidents of their respective Maccabi organizations (Maccabi USA and Maccabi Canada) and have continued to take on various national and international leadership positions within Maccabi World Union because of their shared passion for Jewish Continuity, the State of Israel and athletic competition.
"Roy and I are proud of being Honorary Co-Presidents of the 19th World Maccabiah Games where all participants have a life-enriching experience as the Games build Jewish Pride through sports," Spivak said.
The World Maccabiah Games, a quadrennial competition ranked among the world's top international sporting events, has a magical quality about it which awakens feelings that touch the hearts and reach the souls of the Maccabiah participants. The athletes readily explain that these feelings remain long past the conclusion of the competition - they last a lifetime. The Maccabiah is more than an international athletic competition - it is a celebration of Jewish culture, unity and pride.
"I had the pleasure of working with my good friend, Bob Spivak, as Co-Chairmen of the North American Confederation of Maccabi World Union for more than ten years," said Salomon. "To be named with Bob as Honorary Co-Presidents of the 19th World Maccabiah Games is a very special privilege. I am really looking forward to working with him again in our new role with Maccabi World Union."
Spivak and Salomon intend to bring greater world-wide attention to the Games in the years leading up to the competition. For more information about how to get involved, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
