MACCABI USA ANNOUNCES THE MASTERS MEN’S 35+ BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THE 20TH WORLD MACCABIAH GAMES

Philadelphia, PA, May 4, 2017 – The Maccabi USA Masters Men’s 35+ Basketball Co-Chairs Josh Kahane and David Roberts, along with Head Coach Dr. Ed Wiener are pleased to announce the Masters Men’s 35+ Basketball Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100+ athletes who will be part of the 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.

The athletes are Conrad Adamczak of Los Angeles, CA; Adam Carl of Northbrook, IL; Gil Charash of Encino, CA; Sharone Hakman of Los Angeles, CA; Josh Kahane of Memphis, TN; Joseph Leavitt of Santa Monica, CA; David Ostroff of Arlington, VA; David Roberts of Chesterfield, MO; Michael Rubenstein of Houston, TX; Antwuan Sanders of Highland Park, IL; Mark Small of Encino, CA; and Paul Vitelli of Hoboken, NJ.

“Having won a gold medal for Team USA at the 4th Maccabiah Games in 1953 as a collegiate player, it is truly an honor to now return in 2017 as Head Coach of the 35+ Masters team for the 20th Maccabiah Games” said Dr. Wiener. “Our team is made up of both exceptional basketball players and exceptional men who embody the mission and values of Maccabi USA. We look forward to representing the USA with distinction this summer.” 

Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity. Team USA’s success is not only measured by the medals won, but by the impact that the Maccabiah experience had on their lives as well as the friendships they formed.
