MASSACHUSETTS ATTORNEY ELECTED FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT OF MACCABI USA/SPORTS FOR ISRAEL

December 21, Philadelphia, PA - Jordan Weinstein of Worcester, Massachusetts was elected First Vice-President of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel on December 6 in New York City.  He has been involved with MACCABI USA for more than 25 years.

Weinstein is a managing partner at Weinstein & Weinstein, P.C. in Worcester, Massachusetts and a member of the Worcester County, Massachusetts and American Bar Associations.  A graduate of The University of Michigan ('74), he was a three-year starting player on the Michigan rugby team.  Upon his return to Worcester from law school, Weinstein was a founding member of the Worcester Rugby Football Club.

He first became involved with Maccabi USA in 1985 as a member of the bronze medal winning USA Rugby Team at the 12th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.  Weinstein stayed involved in the organization from that time, first as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the USA Maccabiah Rugby Team, moving into positions of increased responsibility and leadership, and has been an officer of the organization since 1993.  He is also involved in the Governing Body of the Maccabi Movement as a member of the Maccabi World Union Executive since 1992 and has served as a member of the International Sports Committee since 1997, serving as its co-chair from 2005 to the present.  Weinstein served as the General Chairman of the USA Maccabiah Organizing Committee from 1997 - 2005 and was the Head of the USA Delegation at both the 16th and 17th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.

"I am involved with Maccabi USA to promote sportsmanship, friendship and goodwill on behalf of the United States in the context of world-class international athletic events," said Weinstein.  "We strive to engender Jewish solidarity among the Jewish communities throughout the world.  Our formula remains consistent: sports are the attraction, spectacular international athletic venues are the vehicle, and Jewish continuity is the goal."

Along with Weinstein, a new slate of Officers was elected on December 6, including Ron Carner, New York, NY, President; Seth Baron, Kennesaw, GA, Vice President; Leland Faust, San Francisco, CA, Vice President; Donna Orender, Jacksonville, FL, Vice President; Jodi Reff, Rockville, MD, Vice President; Walter Klores, New York, NY, Secretary;  Jeffrey Simon, Northbrook, IL, Treasurer and Jeffrey Bukantz, Montville, NJ, Assistant Treasurer.  Additionally, over 40 individuals were elected as members of the Board of Directors.

About the organization:

Testimonials

The 18th Maccabiah marks the end of a long, four-year journey for me...Sydney followed by Rome then onto Buenos Aires and finally making it to Israel for the grand-daddy of them all.  Experiences, memories and freinds along the way: priceless.
